Back in 2010, veteran sharpener Makoto Tadokoro established Tadokoro Hamono in Tosa, Kochi, and introduced his personal brand, Marushin. By then, he had already amassed over three decades of expertise in the craft of sharpening.
Tadokoro began his journey at just sixteen years old, devoting fifteen formative years to training under the renowned master Morihiro in Sakai, Osaka. That foundation, combined with years of practice, now defines the refinement and precision for which Marushin is known.
The forging is done by Satoshi Nakagawa, paired with Tadokoro’s signature finishing. Each blade goes through his meticulous, thirty-stage process of grinding and sharpening, ensuring a standard of quality unique to his hand.
