Chef’s Edge – Returns & Refunds Policy

At Chef’s Edge, we take pride in offering handcrafted, high-quality products. We’re a small business committed to excellent customer service—but we also need to protect the integrity of our offerings.

Please read our policy carefully before purchasing. By placing an order, you agree to the terms below.


1. Change of Mind Returns

We do not offer refunds for change of mind. However, we are happy to provide a store credit if:

  • You contact us within 14 days of receiving your order, and

  • The item is unused, in its original packaging, and in resalable condition. If a returned item does not comply then the return may be rejected or a fee may be deducted from the store credit at the discretion of Chefs Edge.

  • Under no circumstance can an engraved item be returned for change of mind, if you suspect your engraved knife has a manufacturing issue please contact orders@chefs-edge.com.au to discuss options.

  • Shipping costs, shipping cover and any itemised duties/taxes already paid to your local government are non refundable 

Store credits:

  • Do not expire, and

  • Can be used for any future purchase.

Unfortunately, if more than 14 days have passed since delivery or the item is engraved, we cannot offer a refund or credit under any circumstances.

To request a store credit, email orders@chefs-edge.com.au with your order number and reason for return.


2. Craftsmanship & Variation Policy

All of our knives are handcrafted, and slight variations between products are expected and celebrated. These may include:

  • Minor differences in size, finish, handle shape, or blade characteristics

  • Knives arriving with a “factory sharpen” edge, allowing you to sharpen to your own preference

These features are not defects. For this reason, we do not offer refunds for small differences between the product received and what is pictured online. In some cases, we may offer a store credit or exchange at our discretion, but refunds will not be issued for variations consistent with artisanal production.


3. Warranty Claims & Faults

If you believe your item is defective, damaged on arrival, or not functioning as intended, please contact us at orders@chefs-edge.com.au within 14 days of receipt. We will assess the claim and, if valid, offer:

  • A repair,

  • A replacement, or

  • A refund — depending on the situation.

Claims must be accompanied by clear photographs and your order number. Warranty coverage does not apply to misuse or failure to follow care instructions (see below).


4. Damage During Use & Knife Repairs

If your knife becomes chipped or broken during use:

  • We can help please send us an email outlining how it was chipped with images to orders@chefs-edge.com.au

  • Major damage may incur a repair fee, which we will quote in advance.

  • You are responsible for the cost of return shipping to us.

To arrange a repair, email orders@chefs-edge.com.au with photos and a description of the damage.


5. Knife Care Responsibilities (Especially Carbon Steel)

Many of our knives, particularly high-carbon steel blades, require special care and maintenance to prevent rust or patina formation. We provide care guidance:

  • In product descriptions, and

  • Inside your package

Chef’s Edge is not liable for any damage caused by:

  • Failure to clean and dry knives properly

  • Inappropriate storage

  • Use on bones, frozen foods, or hard surfaces

We do not offer refunds, exchanges, or store credit for damage caused by misuse or for patina/rust development on carbon steel knives.


6. Shipping Damage

If you suspect an item was damaged during transit, contact orders@chefs-edge.com.au within 48 hours of delivery, including photos of the packaging and item. We will work with you to resolve the issue.


7. Cancellations

Orders can be cancelled before shipment by contacting orders@chefs-edge.com.au.

  • If the order has not yet shipped, we will issue a refund minus a 2% payment processing fee.

  • If the order has already shipped but not yet delivered, we will refund the product cost (excluding shipping), minus a 2% processing fee once the item is returned to us.

Discount codes associated with cancelled orders are forfeited and cannot be reinstated.

Once an order has been delivered, our standard Returns Policy applies.


8. Refunds (If Approved)

Once we receive your returned item, please allow 1–2 business days for inspection.

If approved, we will refund the item to your original payment method minus a 2% payment processing fee. Shipping costs, shipping cover and any itemised duties/taxes are non-refundable unless the return is due to our error or a warranty issue.

We reserve the right to refuse any refund where:

  • The item is returned in used or damaged condition

  • The claim falls outside the scope of this policy

  • The request is abusive, repeated, or unreasonable


9. Return Shipping Costs

If you are returning an item for reasons other than warranty or shipping damage:

  • You are responsible for return shipping costs.

  • We will provide the appropriate return address upon approval of your return request.

Chef’s Edge is a small business, and we thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
