Blade Type

VG10 steel, a high-end Japanese stainless steel, is renowned for its superior edge retention and sharpness. Enriched with carbon and chromium, it offers excellent corrosion resistance. The addition of cobalt, molybdenum, and vanadium enhances its hardness and durability, making VG10 steel ideal for a great everyday workhorse knife steel.

Takamura Hamono
Founded in 1945 and based in Echizen, Fukui, Takamura Hamono is a family-run forge now led by third-generation blacksmith Terukazu Takamura, alongside his two younger brothers. Known for their refined craftsmanship and technical innovation, Takamura Hamono has become synonymous with elegant, high-performance blades.
Early pioneers in the use of powder metallurgy steels, they were among the first to work successfully with Super Gold (SG2) — a material prized for its extraordinary hardness and long-lasting edge retention. Have been using this knife for the best part of a year. Only for meat and it is my absolute favourite. Incredible quality and just a beautiful knife.
